Originally founded in 1873 as a machinery factory, in 1981 MALMEDIE, with the suppression of machinery construction, specialized exclusively in the domain of drive technology . For more than 65 years, MALMEDIE has been developing, designing, producing and distributing worldwide mechanical couplings for all industrial applications. In 1994 the newly constructed factory in Solingen replaced the former headquarter in Düsseldorf. Today there are approx. 50 employees in production and administration.
The product line includes mechanical couplings in a range of capacities from 800 Nm to 7,500,000 Nm torque: Gear Couplings and Gear Joint Spindles Drum Couplings (ropedrum joint connections) Safety Couplings, torque sensitive SOS Snag Overload Systems for Containercranes Special designs, also acc. to customer drawings. Applications: Hot- and cold-rolling mills for steel processing, rolling lines, capstan drives, straightening machines, shears, ship drives, cement works, cranes, mixers and rolling mills for rubber, equipment for briquetting, compacting and grinding, general machine construction.
MALMEDIE gear-couplings are designed with crowned teeth, and are used where torques must be transmitted through shafts that are movable on all sides. The range manufactured is not limited to the coupling series illustrated in this catalogue, but also includes a wide range of special designs made to satisfy a great variety of customers’ wishes. MALMEDIE gear-couplings can compensate angular, radial and axial misalignments. In the case of the standard ranges of couplings, the capacity to compensate for misalignment is up ± 0.75° per coupling half, depending on the version. Special versions capable of ± 5° can be supplied. Frictional forces can result from the movement of the teeth, and can affect the following parts. Axial forces applied from outside are transmitted to the maximum level of tangential force x friction factor.
